Abstract

"UNHCR’s Strategic Plan for HIV and AIDS (2008-2012) outlines the overall objectives and main strategies to address HIV and AIDS within the context of UNHCR’s mandate to protect refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other persons of concern (PoCs). It is also designed to ensure that UNHCR’s operations benefit from national and international standards in HIV prevention, treatment, care and support policies and programmes...The Strategic Plan aims to guide operations in camp, urban and other non-camp settings as well as in local integration and returnee situations during the period of 2008-2012 (see 2008-12 guiding principles). It is built upon lessons learned from the two previous Strategic Plans on HIV, AIDS and Refugees (2002-04 and 2005-2007)."
