"UNAIDS would like to acknowledge the Department for International Development, UK for supporting the conference. SHARAN acknowledges RUSAN PHARMA for their support in organising pre conference activities."

"The Conference brought together more than 120 professionals and resource persons that included people living with HIV/AIDS, Government officials, donors, policy makers, legal activists, NGO workers from across the region, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The Conference highlighted the urgent need to scale up harm reduction interventions across South Asia and introduce appropriate controls on the sale of prescription pharmaceuticals. To enable widespread use by grass root NGOs, the presentations made at the conference have been translated into ten local languages. This is a unique initiative to reach out to organisations that mostly work in vernacular and it is our sincere hope that the community will make extensive use of this material in their work.
This report presents a summary of the discussions and key recommendations for advocacy with policy makers at the national, regional and international levels."
