Summary

"The Sixth International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific, took place in Melbourne, Australia from the 5th to the 10th of October in 2001.

The Congress was part of a larger regional response to the epidemic that involves committed and enduring institutions, networks and community groups united in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Congress presented an innovative program centred on the overall concept of "Breaking Down Barriers". This program structure replaced the traditional disciplinary tracks with four dynamic and comprehensive themes designed to promote cross-disciplinary dialogue while combining good science, effective advocacy and community development.

This web-site has been established as a permanent archive of the published proceedings of the Congress."
