- Abstract
"This Government is committed to supporting national efforts to control the spread of this epidemic. It is compulsory for all government departments and statutory agencies to participate in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Department of Prime Minister & NEC has taken up the challenge. In late 17 December 2004, the National Executive Council approved the National HIV/AIDS Strategic Framework as a national response strategy to fight the epidemic. One of the national response measures to the HIV/AIDS epidemic include the transfer of the NACS from the Department of Health to the Department of Prime Minister & NEC in order to give the national response its due prominence. With the cooperation of NGOs, donor agencies, Department of Labour & Industrial Relations, the Employers’ Federation of PNG, the PNG Trade Union Congress, the Department of Prime Minister & NEC has developed a "HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy" for use within the Department."
