"An APEC workshop on HIV/AIDS and Migrant/Mobile Workers was held in Manila, Philippines, on 5-6 December 2005. The workshop, which was organized by Canada and the Philippines as host, brought together health, labour, and foreign
ministry officials, as well as national AIDS authorities, non-governmental organizations and international organizations representing 13 APEC economies. Through the various sessions consisting of formal presentations and discussions,
participants explored the linkages between mobility and vulnerability to HIV/AIDS; regional and national strategies to address these challenges; gender and human rights issues; HIV/AIDS prevention in the workplace; safe mobility, economic growth and development."
