- Abstract
"Gender inequalities have made women the new prime targets of infection in the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Asia. To address the feminization of HIV/AIDS in the world today the First Asia Pacific Women, Girls and HIV/AIDS Best Practices Conference, held in Islamabad from 29 November to 1 December 2004, brought together 300 delegates from 25 countries to explore the issues, document practical experience and produce the Islamabad Agenda for Change 2004. Nine conference Working Groups made recommendations for programs, policies, and advocacy on the following themes: gender relations and HIV/AIDS; human rights dimensions of HIV/AIDS; youth reproductive health and prevention; female sex workers; trafficking of women and girls and migrant populations; IV drug use and its impact on women; and overall best practices in the three areas of prevention, treatment and community building."
